Donation Supports Youth Leadership, Food Access, and Sustainable Agriculture in Central Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - Txylo -- United Heritage Credit Union is proud to announce a $10,000 donation to Urban Roots through its Charity Foundation as part of a sustaining sponsorship. This contribution reflects the Foundation's continued commitment to environmental causes and youth development through hands-on learning and community engagement.

Founded in 2008, Urban Roots uses food and farming to transform the lives of young people and inspire, engage, and nourish the community. Each year, Urban Roots provides paid internships to youth and young adults, teaching leadership skills and food justice advocacy through sustainable agriculture. In 2023 alone, program participants harvested over 35,000 pounds of fresh produce—much of which was donated to local food access partners—while cultivating leadership and job readiness through meaningful fieldwork and mentorship.
