ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Sept. 30, 2024 ~ The Women in HVACR (WHVACR) organization is gearing up for its 21st annual convention, set to take place at the Dallas Renaissance Hotel from October 21st to 23rd. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to empowering women in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration trades.

The convention, titled "Lone Star Leadership: Rising Above the Crowd," will feature two keynote speakers - Amanda Brinkman and Maureen Zappala. Brinkman is the creator, producer and host of the Emmy-nominated TV show "Small Business Revolution" and an award-winning marketing executive. Zappala is a former NASA propulsion engineer and founder of High Altitude Strategies.

According to Women in HVACR Executive Director Amy O'Grady, this conference is an extension of the organization's commitment to improving the lives of its members by providing professional avenues for networking and connecting with other women in the industry. Whether attendees are just starting out in their careers or have years of experience under their belt, O'Grady believes that this conference will offer valuable education and networking opportunities.

In addition to two full days of educational programming, the convention will also include optional networking events such as the Boot Scootin' Networkin' event on Monday afternoon and the Competition and Convo event on Wednesday evening. There will also be two evening events on Monday and Tuesday.

O'Grady shared that Women in HVACR began as a conversation during the AHR Expo in Chicago back in 2002. The following year at Comfortech conference in Dallas, a roundtable discussion about women in the industry was held. By 2004, Women in HVACR was officially formed and began hosting its own conferences.

"We've come full circle," O'Grady said. "From a roundtable discussion in Dallas in 2003 to our 21st annual conference in the same city, we're proud of the more than two decades we've worked to provide women in HVACR with mentorship and guidance."

The organization's main goal is to further the growth of women in all areas of the HVACR industry, including technical, sales, management, and ownership positions. Through various networking opportunities and a professional environment, Women in HVACR aims to support its members' development.

Those interested in attending the convention can register on the organization's website for $750 for members and $899 for non-members. For more information about Women in HVACR and its mission, visit their website at https://www.womeninhvacr.org/.
