New alliance brings industry leaders together to shape public policy and help Texans understand the tax revenue data centers generate for their local communities
AUSTIN, Texas - Txylo -- The Texas Digital Infrastructure Alliance (TXDIA) launched today to advance policies that support investment in data centers, fiber networks and the facilities that keep Texas connected, and help Texans better understand how these industries contribute to their communities. The alliance brings together companies that build, power, invest in and use digital infrastructure across the state. Its work centers on the economic impact data centers have on the local communities.
The organization will work with policymakers and community leaders on the issues shaping the industry's future in Texas, including access to power, water stewardship, workforce development and tax policy. Independent, Texas-specific research will guide its advocacy and public education efforts as the alliance prepares for the Texas Legislature's 90th session, beginning in January 2027.
"Texas has built a competitive advantage by creating an environment where businesses can invest, innovate and grow," said Megan Mauro, Policy and Advocacy Advisor, Texas Digital Infrastructure Alliance. "The industries driving our next generation of economic growth are also critical to our economic security, infrastructure resilience and long-term prosperity. TXDIA brings leaders and communities together to advance informed, coordinated policy that protects our competitive advantage and positions Texas to lead in the critical infrastructure shaping our future."
The alliance's membership will span data centers, telecommunications, cloud, fiber and edge operators, along with companies advancing emerging technologies, in addition to utilities and firms in real estate, construction and professional services. That breadth will help TXDIA find common ground across the industry and coordinate its work with existing organizations.

Companies choose Texas for its competitive tax structure and a business climate that rewards investment and growth. Sustaining that advantage requires public policy that keeps pace with how digital infrastructure is built and powered, including grid connections and on-site generation. Decisions in Austin and across local communities will shape where companies invest and how those investments contribute to jobs and public revenue.
A recent national survey conducted by Fabrizio Ward and Impact Research for the American Infrastructure Alliance found that 54% of respondents would support data center construction if companies committed to covering related electricity costs, protecting consumers from higher utility bills and safeguarding surrounding environmental resources. Meanwhile, 64% expressed concern that bans would send jobs, investment and economic growth to other states. Those findings speak directly to TXDIA's work to advocate for responsible development and help Texans understand the decisions shaping investment in their communities.
