~ In a recent press release, Governor Greg Abbott congratulated the City of Aransas Pass on being designated as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas. This recognition comes after the city completed a multi-step certification process in the inaugural year of the program.
The Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community designation is a testament to the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center's commitment to developing tourism as an economic growth strategy. Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of tourism to both local and state economies, stating that it supports one in 11 jobs in Texas. He also highlighted that travelers to and within Texas generate over $193 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state.
He encouraged all Texas communities to apply for this designation, as it can further grow local tourism and create more jobs in the state.
