Texas Nonprofit Pledges Active Community Footprint and Direct Fundraising Support for Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley Initiatives
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Txylo -- Special Minds Unlocked, a Texas nonprofit dedicated to physical empowerment, cognitive development, and youth movement curriculum for neurodivergent and differently-abled individuals, announced today the formation of its official team to participate in the 2026 Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley (DSABV) Buddy Walk.
The annual event will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM CDT at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater & Park (1015 Colgate Drive, College Station, TX 77845). Details regarding the walk, community activities, and event schedule are available at dsabv.org/Buddy-Walk.
The DSABV Buddy Walk is a community celebration in the Brazos Valley, uniting families, local leaders, educators, and organizations to advocate for full inclusion and celebrate individuals with Down syndrome.
"True leadership is demonstrated on the ground, not through passive statements," said Team Captain Raun Shephard. "Movement, structure, and physical resilience belong to every individual regardless of developmental challenges. Our team is stepping onto the path at Wolf Pen Creek to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with these athletes and families. This walk is our first milestone with the Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley; our long-term intent is to serve as an active partner for years to come. I'm grateful Desiray Clarkson recommended the partnership."
