~ Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has renewed his disaster proclamation for a number of counties and state agencies affected by the ongoing surge of individuals unlawfully crossing the Texas-Mexico border. The proclamation, originally issued on May 31, 2021, has been amended multiple times to include additional counties and address the ongoing threat posed by this situation.
Under Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code, Governor Abbott certified that the influx of individuals crossing the border posed an imminent threat of disaster for several counties and state agencies. This led to a series of proclamations, with the most recent being issued on April 17, 2026.
The certified conditions continue to exist and pose an ongoing threat as outlined in previous proclamations. As such, Governor Abbott has renewed his disaster proclamation for Aransas, Atascosa, Bee, Brewster, Brooks, Caldwell, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Coleman, Colorado, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, DeWitt, Dimmit, Duval, Edwards, El Paso and many other counties.

The renewal also applies to all state agencies affected by this disaster. All orders and directions provided in the original proclamation from May 31st are still in effect.
In accordance with statutory requirements, copies of this proclamation will be filed with relevant authorities. The Governor's signature and official seal were affixed at his office in Austin on April 17th.
This latest renewal serves as a reminder that the situation at the Texas-Mexico border remains a pressing issue for the state. Governor Abbott continues to take action to address this ongoing crisis and protect the affected communities and state agencies.
